WHAT IS BURNSHIELD?

Burnshield is a Sterile Hydrogel used for the initial, emergency treatment of burns. It provides a physical protection against infection and minuses trauma and skin damage. It is non-toxic and safe for use of children. Burnshield fulfills the EU requirements related to all products bearing the CE mark as well as ISO 13485 accreditation.

WHAT IS BURNSHIELD'S INTENDED USE?

Burnshield is applicable to all types of burns during the Emergency phase without restriction to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns, given the potential significant progression of burns within the first hour

HOW IS BURNSHIELD APPLIED?

BURNSHIELD DRESSING:

  1. Open  the sterile foil package.
  2. Remove  the Foam Dressing from package.
  3. Apply  the Foam Dressing over the wound.
  4. Secure  the Foam Dressing with a non-adherent bandage.

BURNSHIELD HYDROGEL: 

  1. Remove – the lid.
  2. Apply – the gel to the burn area, making sure to apply gel beyond the burn area.
  3. Cover – with a non-adherent bandage
IS BURNSHIELD STERILE?

Yes. Burnshield products are sterilized by gamma irradiation. Burnshield products are ISO, TGA, CE accredited and FDA approved to market. Single use only.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD BURNSHIELD DRESSINGS BE CHANGED?
  • Burnshield is used only for the emergency treatment of burns and is most effective only within the first 24hours after being burnt. Thereafter, seek medical attention.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN INGREDIENTS AND FEATURES OF BURNSHIELD HYDROGEL?

Ingredients:

  • 1% Melaleuca alt. (Tea Tree Oil)
  • 96% Purified Water

    Burnshield Gel is a white to off white gel which turns clear once applied. This allows for monitoring of wound progression.

IS THE BURNSHIELD RANGE COMPREHENSIVE?

Yes.

 The Burnshield range of products all consist of the same water based gel (Hydrogel) which is sold on its own (in bottles, tubes or sachets) or together with a carrier material of either polyurethane (Burnshield Dressings), wool or cotton (Burnshield Cotton Dressings and Blankets).

The Burnshield range also extends to Burn Kits (Consumer, Retail, Professional, Military)

WHY IS BURNSHIELD PREFERRED?

Burnshield is a CE approved, Sterile Hydrogel used for the initial, emergency treatment of burns.  Burnshield has a wide product range and safe for use on children and facial burns.

Burnshield can be easily applied and removed and is cost effective.

DO BURNSHIELD PRODUCTS HAVE EXPIRATION DATES?

Five year expiry from date of manufacture.

IF WATER IS AVAILABLE WHY USE BURNSHIELD?
  • For the duration that Burnshield is used, it provides a cooling effect
  • Burnshield provides the ability to transport the patient to nearest facility, whilst still offering cooling the burn.
  • Running water would require the patient to remain stationary.
WHO SHOULD KEEP BURNSHIELD?

The versatile range of dressings, gels and kits are suitable for every market – from domestic to industry, from marine to mining and from ambulance service to hospitals and military.

HOW CAN BURNSHIELD BE USED TO TREAT ELECTRICAL BURNS?
  • Switch off the power source and remove patient from the source
  • Look for BOTH Entry & Exit points of the arc \flash
  • Cover entire area between the Entry & Exit pointsTreat as you would for Heat burn
  • Seek medical attention if no improvement after the first 24 hours.
HOW CAN BURNSHIELD BE USED TO TREAT CHEMICAL BURNS?
  • Flush affected area for 10 -15 minutes to neutralise acid\alkaline
  • Additional flushing of area if the eyes are involved ( extra 3-5 minutes)
  • Apply Burnshield dressing to the affected area and treat as you would for normal heat burns.
  • Seek medical attention if no improvement after the first 24 hours.
